Where Kdp Wins
Where Amazon KDP is the better choice
Reach. Most US ebook buyers already shop on Amazon. If you publish in one place only, it's usually Amazon.
Kindle Unlimited. If your genre thrives on page reads (romance, LitRPG, thrillers), KDP Select pays from a shared fund every month. It requires ebook exclusivity, though.
Free to start. KDP charges nothing upfront.
Advertising. Amazon Ads puts your book in front of shoppers at the moment they're buying.

Where Bookmarket Wins
Where BookMarket is the better choice
Per-sale income. You keep 100% of net on digital sales, about $9.40 on a $9.99 ebook against about $6.78 on KDP.
Higher prices without penalty. Price a premium ebook at $14.99 and keep about $14.26. On Amazon.com, anything above $12.99 drops to 35%.
No exclusivity, ever. Your rights stay free.
Reader trust. Clear AI labels, editorial shelves and a quieter store built for discovery.
Every format on one page: ebook, audiobook, paperback and hardcover.

The Smart Move
Use both
BookMarket is non-exclusive, so you don't have to choose. Keep your book on Amazon for reach, and add BookMarket for direct readers and better margins.

Faq
KDP vs. BookMarket questions
Can I publish the same book on KDP and BookMarket?
Yes, unless the ebook is enrolled in KDP Select. Print editions can be on both at any time.
What changed with KDP royalties in 2026?
Effective July 7, 2026, Amazon widened the 70% royalty band on Amazon.com to list prices of $2.99–$12.99. The previous maximum was $9.99. Delivery costs still apply to the 70% option: Amazon subtracts them first, then pays 70% of the rest.
Is BookMarket's 100% really 100%?
It's 100% of net on digital sales: the sale price minus the payment processing fee and sales tax. BookMarket earns from your membership and from a margin on print orders, not from your ebook royalties.
Do I lose Amazon's reviews if I publish on BookMarket too?
No. Each store keeps its own reviews.
