Step 01
How It Works
How your book is protected
No downloadable file
Readers open your book in the
browser reader. There's no file to
save to a drive or attach to an
email.
Tied to the buyer's account
Each purchase is a personal, non-
transferable license, and the book
opens only in the buyer's signed-in
library.
Encrypted in transit and at
rest
Your files travel over TLS 1.3 and
are stored encrypted (AES256).
Clear license terms
Our Terms prohibit copying, redistributing or getting around the reader's protections.
Step 02
The Honest Part
What no protection can do
No copy protection anywhere is unbreakable. A determined person can always retype or photograph pages.
Protection exists to make casual sharing impractical and to keep honest readers honest. Here's how authors actually limit piracy: Make buying easier than stealing. A fair price, instant reading and no app to install all remove the excuses.
Act fast on takedowns. If you find your book on a pirate site, send a DMCA notice to the host, and ask Google to remove the URLs from search through its copyright removal process.
Tell us. If a BookMarket-sold copy of your book appears somewhere, email dmca@bookmarket.ai with the
Step 03
For Readers
What this means for readers
Readers can return to your book in their library on a phone, tablet or computer, without managing files. That convenience is the reason they don't go looking for a file at all.
Questions
What authors ask
Can readers download my ebook?
No. BookMarket ebooks are read in the secure browser reader.
Is DRM bad for sales?
Some readers prefer DRM-free files they can move between devices. BookMarket's approach replaces the file with a reader that works everywhere. If DRM-free distribution matters to you, BookMarket is non-exclusive, so you can also sell DRM-free copies elsewhere.
What do I do if my book is pirated?
Send a DMCA notice to the website's host, request removal from search results, and let us know at dmca@bookmarket.ai.
